Late arrivals belong on the tape.

We used to drop usage that showed up after close into a “adjustments” bucket nobody could audit. Finance asked for a dump. Engineering sent a CSV. The invoice still lied.

14.2 prints the late-arrival window on the event tape. The line is held, not repaired. If you open a prior period, that write is an operator event with a name on it.

If a number cannot be traced, it does not ship.

That is the whole product. The rest is typesetting.

Fathom stores posted events, meter versions, and closed invoices. We do not mine payloads for advertising. Retention is 13 months on Floor unless you pin longer on Exchange.

Operators
A write is attributed to a named operator or to system. You are responsible for who holds a desk seat. We will not invent an anonymous edit.

Close
An invoice, once closed, is not silently rewritten. Corrections are new events. If that is unacceptable, do not use the product.

Close: The point when a period of usage is reconciled and prepared for invoicing.
Event: An immutable record of a measured action, with an identifier, timestamp, and quantity.
Idempotency: A guarantee that receiving the same event identifier again does not count its usage twice.
Meter: A rule that identifies which events to count and which unit to measure.
Rate card: The versioned prices used to convert measured usage into billable amounts.
Reconciliation: Comparing recorded usage with its source to find gaps or mismatches.
Settlement: Applying a finalized charge or credit to an account balance.

This release makes invoice adjustments easier to inspect and adds explicit roles for the people who approve them.

What changed

Adjustment records now include a reason, actor, and original invoice reference.
Readers can inspect audit history without gaining permission to edit rates.
CSV exports preserve event identifiers across every invoice line.

Migration notes

If you parse invoice exports, allow the new adjustment_reason column. Existing API fields remain available in this sample release.

Before you upgrade

Export a sample invoice from your test workspace.
Check your CSV parser against the new column.
Review role assignments with the workspace owner.
